Wisdom teeth

Wisdom teeth, also called third molars, are the last teeth to emerge, usually presenting themselves in your late teens or early twenties.

Most people have four wisdom teeth - one in each back corner of the mouth. Some people have more or fewer wisdom teeth, or none at all. The arrival of these late-emerging teeth can cause trouble as they are often impacted (trapped in the jawbone) where there is not enough room for them.

Not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. By examining your mouth and taking a digital x-ray at Seine River Dental Centre, we are better able to predict whether your wisdom teeth may cause problems in the future. Before wisdom teeth become painful, infected or impacted, we may recommend having them removed.
